Energy from the core. Reykjanes Geothermal Power Station, Ísland.

On view at Fotonostrum Gallery, Barcelona, Spain.

Energy From The Core is a series exploring the transformation of our natural landscapes by our quest for energy. In light of our growing energy consumption, the viability of our global ecosystem will depend more and more on clean, renewable energy sources. Iceland's geothermal structures have a unique and powerful visual energy, which serves as a reminder to be conscious about where our energy comes from.

To my eye, they are surprising and impressive works of art. Resembling monumental modern sculptures, they exist in tension with nature, yet they are intimately weaved into the fabric of vast volcanic landscapes.
